Three Grand Ladies

Mom had this picture and I asked if I could post it...isn't it a good picture of the three of them? Do you know where they are? And where do you suppose they were going? I knew Aunt Florence better than Aunt Hilda...but I know the latter was a live-wire. Do you have any stories, unique traits, or memories to share?

I absolutely LOVE this picture. Do you suppose they were headed to Chicago for the day? So cute all dressed up with their purses, coats, etc. I remember going with Mother to Aunt Hilda's house "of an evening" and Uncle Dode would sit and play solitaire on the coffee table - then pretty soon he would start talking and telling some ridiculous story and Aunt Hilda would tell him to "just be quiet". So he would for a while then start another story. Mother would get kinda irritated, because they wanted to have their own "girl talk"!!

I also remember when Aunt Florence lived in Aunt Mary's house and then moved to the house across the street. I used to go with Mother to visit her also. Sometimes the evening visits were on our front porch where we often fought the mosquitoes with the DDT spray. I thought I was pretty smart when Dad let ME do the spray!

I remember lots of Gramm picnics in the summertime - some in the Gridley Park, some at Lake Bloomington Picnic Area, and some at various houses. Always fun to remember the "old days"!!
