(Another) Oregon visit

Elizabeth, Laura, baby David, and I had a four night visit to Oregon to spend time with my mom.  (Sat-Wed)  At Oatfield Estates where Mom (Pearl) lives, they have a pond with lots of fish.  I enjoyed the blooming lily pad.  The bottom picture is at Devil's Churn on the Oregon Coast.  When the waves crash against the rocks and spray up in the air, everybody oohs and aahs.  It reminds me of watching fire works.  Unfortunately, my picture didn't catch the action.  ---Carol

New home for Catherine K. at Meadows...

Yesterday (8-27-14) was a memorable day for Mom and the immediate family.  She moved from Meadows @ Mercy Creek in Normal to its affiliate in Meadows, IL. -- Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community where she will now receive more assistance in her everyday care and needs.
The move went extremely well with Mom cooperating 100% with her usual upbeat, appreciative attitude.  She just kept saying "This is great.  This is great!".   Her roommate is a lifelong Gridley native and a longtime good friend of mother.  Our Transition Team Captain (Judy) had the moving day planned out and organized well in advance which made the actual move very easy for all the siblings to help.  Mom would love to hear from any of her friends.  And with her love of writing letters, you'll probably get a response back!

Mom's address is now Meadows Retirement Community, 24588 Church Street, Chenoa Illinois  61726.

Pretty Snazzy!

In spite of holding up traffic in the Logan's parking lot, and nearly getting run over by a big black pickup...I got this pretty cool picture of Jerry and Ada in his new red Mustang convertible. Fun!

On another note, for those not aware, we are moving our mom to Meadows Nursing Home tomorrow. She states she is ready to go and we hope she will adjust well.

The picture below is a purchase of Ada's from an estate sale in Gridley this morning.  I am guessing that it is a Christmas gift from the Gramm-Klopfenstein Grain Elevator in 1933,  Hopefully if you click on the picture you can see that there is a small calendar from 1933.  When Ada purchased it, it was in the original box, never been used, and contain a small "Greetings" card!  I hope I can get the picture to come out!  Enjoy!!

Christensen Deck in the Summer

I am attempting to learn how to post pictures from my phone to the computer and then the blog, so please have some patience with me!  Thanks!  Below are two pictures of our  deck!  The second one includes Heather when she stopped in to have lunch with us one day!   She is a sweetheart!   Hope this works???
