Good pictures of Good ladies

I came into the office to clean out the closet a little, when I found a couple of Gloria's photo books that I have to get back to her. So I had to look through them, and then I had to pull some that I wanted, and then I had to post a few to the blog. I can find more reasons than you can think of to put off cleaning out that closet! These are just a few of the good, strong women who left good memories in the Klopfenstein clan.

My favorite saying from Aunt Minerva "Share my love with everyone but keep some for yourself."

Aunt Ruth used to wash the inside walls of her garge. She was a very hard worker; and a wonderful cook, as were many of her generation, my Mother included, and others.

Aunt Mary always tried to make me eat more - she said "you don't eat enough to feed a bird!" It actually made me kinda mad. She used to sometimes come to our house in the evening and I would beg her to play "old maid" and she would say "Oh no - I'm old maid enough"! I stayed at her house overnight on a few occasions and was fascinated by watching her comb her long hair into the "roll" on the back of her head.

Aunt Minerva was a sweetie. She told me once that my dad was her favorite brother. She sat beside him at the dinner table and he was always nice to her. I loved to stay at her house sometimes, also. They had one of the first TV's in Gridley and we went to see it for the first time and it had a lot of "snow" on it, but it was still very exciting to watch it.

I remember when Betty and Carlton got married. I thought she was so pretty - and also so short while Carlton was so tall. Betty, Patty, Neva and I used to meet for lunch in Bloomington occasionally and that was always fun.

OOOOPS - wrong aunt!!
Aunt Ruth talked and talked and talked all the time. I loved to sit and listen to her and Mother talk about EVERYTHING under the sun. We used to go down to that little house in the evenings and she was usually in the middle of a major cleaning project - one time she had the stove and fridge pulled out and was on her hands and knees cleaning behind them. I think she said she did that every month! I have to laugh at that now - don't think I've EVER cleaned behind my appliances!! I remember her and Mother stretching quilts into the frames at our house as I was playing with my dolls on the floor under the quilt. They just talked and laughed the whole time.

I wish I had a dollar for every delicious hamburger Aunt Ruth made for me. I spent a lot of time at their house with my best childhood friend, Jack. And I mowed Aunt Minerva'a yard for a few years and she ALWAYS gave me some cookies along with the $1.00 pay.
