Happy Fourth of July!!!

Happy Fourth of July to all members of the EJK Family Blog!!!

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with ... picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism." --Erma Bombeck

We attended a parade in Chenoa with the temp at 100 or perhaps a little more. For supper, we ate grilled hamburgers and shared them with the Schielers and "Aunt" Marilyn. Preston, 21, did the grilling honors. Very tasty, and enjoyable. We are thankful to God for our nation and our freedoms. May it ever be!

At 9:12 waiting for fireworks in Allendale, MI the temp was 93! However, it actually didn't seem that hot and as the sun went down the temps dropped quite a few degrees.

I always love the hour or so waiting for fireworks to watch families gather around and see how the kids use up the time waiting for the show to begin--there are a lot of frisbees and balls out. Several families usually have some sparklers. Last night the father beside us challenged his daughter to run about 74 yards away and back twice. He looked over at us and said, "Just want to make sure she sleeps well tonight!"
