THE CRAZY THINGS WE'VE DONE

These are some pictures from a "murder/mystery" we had a long time ago in Minonk. The boxed game came with detailed instructions for each "character" as well as new details throughout the evening. We each had a booklet and every 20 min or so, we had to read the next section in which we each had different things to bring up in the conversation.

We sent the invitations to these people complete with their character and asked them to dress somewhat appropriately. Jerry was the "brainy"/math/science guy, I was the class prim/proper girl, others were a football player, cheerleader, class rebel etc. It just happened to be a 5th reunion of the Class of '54 and this group of people had gotten together for dinner at Maltie's Cafe, and just as they were about ready to order from the menu, the radio (a tape was in the box) interrupted with an announcement that a classmate had been murdered on the way to the reunion. We spent the evening trying to figure out who killed him, each of us had a booklet with "clues". We all had a fun time and laughed a lot. I have no remembrance of how it actually ended, but we DID solve the mystery.

As you can see, we went all out in making our kitchen into Maltie's Cafe and had a good dinner included. A tape of 50's rock-n-roll music was included in the box. So now you know, we're the crazy ones in the family. Also, this occurred on the night of the bombing of the first Iraq War - Desert Storm - and we did take a moment for silent thoughts/prayers for our soldiers there.
