BUSY, BUT RAINY, DAY AT THE CHRISTENSEN'S

Jerry completed the puzzle today. It was a loooong and difficult. I'd've given up a long time ago, but he kept at it!! And I finished binding a quilt for Dorothy Ringger. Now we're waiting for the Trick-or-Treaters to come knocking.

TCF Bank  --- Preston with his nephews, Ashton & Caleb

Ashton, Preston and Caleb at Falls Park in downtown Sioux Falls

Friday morning, Perry and I took Ashton and Caleb with us to visit Preston for 3 nights. (The boys stayed in his apt and we stayed in a hotel.)  We had excellent weather and a wonderful trip.  Saturday, Preston took us to the bank where he works, and then the boys went horse back riding for a couple hours in Lester, IA.  Sunday after church,we visited the falls before going to what is called the Sioux Falls potluck.  We met some nice people and enjoyed delicious food.  Couples living in Sioux Falls (with Lester, IA, church connections) take turns hosting this potluck once a month  This morning, we left at 6 am and drove into Gridley at 4:30 pm. ---Carol

Emch news!

This happy bunch will increase, Lord willing, in May 2014.  Brandon and Maria told us yesterday that they are expecting another baby.  Above are Timon, Alice, Jesse, Milan and Anna.  Milan will turn 2 when the baby comes.  This will be grandchild #18 for us.  The seventeenth is due in January (Endress.)  We are blessed!  (We could use a bigger house, however, when they all come home.)---Carol

Farm Visitors!

Hello from the Endress'! This Tuesday we had Uncle Keith and Aunt Alice out to our farm! It was fun to show them around.  Uncle Keith seemed to love it all, from the grain set-up, to the goats and chickens, to the tractor ride!
Laura, and Heidi and Aunt Alice and Uncle Keith watching the semi unload

After we showed them around our place, we took them to the field where they got to see the harvest in action!  Uncle Keith got to ride with Matthew in the tractor that was pulling the grain cart.

We're glad it worked for them to come! The weather was perfect!
If anyone else wants to come spend a day with us on the farm let us know! =)

Oregon!

Perry II at Honeyman State Park, Florence, Oregon
Carter with an orange starfish at the Oregon coast
                                                                  Carol and Carter
                                                        Sea Lion at Newport, Oregon
                                                          Tidepool at the Oregon coast

Perry II, Carter and I just returned from a five day trip to Oregon.  We spent two nights at the beach at a cabin called Restless Surf at Yachats, OR.  We didn't go to any zoos or aquariums.  We saw the sea lions in the wild and the starfish as well.  There is a bay at Newport where the fishing boats bring in their catch.  The sea lions hang around on the docks because they can eat the "leftovers."  At the beach, it is sort of like being in a different world.  I love it! ----Carol

Vic and Jean

Last Friday Vic and Jean stopped at Mom's to see her new home. They were in Bloomington for an event at ISU. I thought it was an exceptional picture of the three of them, with Dad in the background.

Mara's Heart Surgery

Some of you have seen these pictures on FB, but I will post them here for those who didn't. Mara had a heart stent placed today. It was about a 4 hour procedure and the doctor assured Casey and Jamie that it went well. She stayed in the hospital overnight for observation and then they will run some tests tomorrow to make sure everything is in place and working well, and then she should be able to go home.

Pre-Surgery

You can see in the top view the constriction of the artery...almost looks like a sausage string it is so closed off. In the bottom view you can see that it has been opened considerably. Casey and Jamie are wondering how they will handle all the extra energy this girl will have.

Looking good after recovery. She got a new American Girl doll as a surprise.
