Birthday Party

The RDK family celebrated Mom's birthday today at Steak N Shake. We were missing Cleve and Kathleen and David's Linda. Marty brought a friend to join us, as you can see sitting by Cathy. Mom turned 86 today. She is in good health and is enjoying her new home at Mercy Creek. We had good food, as usual, and really enjoyed visiting around the table.

On a sadder note, Carolyn Schlipf's grandson, Matt Schweigert, was killed in a car accident yesterday in Tremont. He is the son of Joe and Nancy Schweigert. The obituary should be in the Peoria Journal Star tomorrow. I'm sure they would appreciate our prayers.

This is a great picture of your family. I'm sure your mom was really happy to have lunch with all of you.

I'll bet you all remembered the "old days" eating at S&S with the carhops, window trays, spilled rootbeer, etc.

A great picture...good of everyone! We were sorry to miss the gathering but we sure like being in 82-degree weather here in Florida. I called Mom to wish her a happy 86th just as she got home from your outing and she was quite excited and pleased. She said you reminisced about the old family Steak 'n Shake days as described by Ada. Yes, the carhops and others always got quite an eyefull seeing our SEVERAL window trays loaded with 31-cent steakburgers, lettuce/tomato burgers, milkshakes, etc. And, yes, there were plenty of spills passing the food back to seat #3 of the old station-wagon. And Dad always had his favorite -- an Orange Freeze. Steak 'n Shake was a true family favorite and still is today!
Thanks, NobBlog, for the posting.

Yes it is the very nice picture and it appears everyone was having a great time.

Today a girl from Morton who was on my Israel trip and lives in Mexico commented on facebook on someone's post about Carolyn Schlipf's grandson with a link to the PJStar article. I thought the names were familiar as he mentioned Joe and Nancy so I called Dad to ask about it. It was an interesting way to find out about a distant family happening. Will certainly be praying for the family through this.

Happy Birthday Aunt Catherine.

Very nice picture. We eat at that restaurant, in that very corner, many times on Sunday evening.
