Marguerite, Char, and Mary

How many of you next generation recognize the names in the title?  They are daughters of Aunt Florence Krones, who was a Gridleyite all her life.   All three girls are graduates of Gridley High.  Marguerite Zupansic has lived in Largo, FL many years, Char Hozie is in Bloomington and Mary Hermann in Peoria.
All three were in Easley, SC last weekend for the wedding of Marguerite's grandson, Cory Zupansic.   Cory's dad is Joe Zupansic, who has been in South Carolina for about thirty years, having married a South Carolina girl.   Anyway, Lynn and I went to Easley, only twenty miles from our home,  on Saturday night to see the cousins (the wedding at been the previous night).
A slow housing market caused Joe to quit the stucco business.   He now operates Poppin Joe's Kettle Corn concession at the Jockey Lot, the world's largest flea market, ten miles out of Anderson.   That kettle corn is yummy and we'll take you there when you come to visit us.

I met Charlene at a bridal shower in Ralph and Catherine's activity room. I thought it was interesting that she was called Schotzi--have no idea how to spell it. Can anyone elaborate on how she got that nickname?

MAYBE you can take us there IF it works for us to swing through there on the way to or back from Florida. Is the flea market open in January/February?

"Schatzi"---I can pronounce it but spelling is anybody's guess. It is a term of endearment for someone especially precious! So I guess all you readers are schatzi's.
Ada, I think the Jockey Lot is open year round so come on!

To me,Charlene was always known as "my friend Jack's cousin". Mary was well-known around Peoria as a great singer and sang in a reknowned ladies group called the Sweet Adelaides. Their brother Jim was also a well-known Peoria Barbershop quartet singer. Later, I taught his son, Jim Jr., at Peoria High who also sang lead parts in Peoria High School plays and later he became Peoria's best known Barbershop singer and organizer. Then there was Vicki, oldest daughter of Joe and Margarite, who came occasionally to Gridley to visit her grandma Florence. I was quite stricken by her (she was much, much, cuter than any of the Gridley girls!). Thanks for the post and the pleasant memories.

Don't know why my comments show up twice sometimes. Bear with me.
