California

August 5th, Perry, Preston and I flew to San Diego, took the Amtrak to
L. A., visited the Nixon and Reagan Libraries, and flew home. Perry was asked to give a history talk in San Diego, where we attended church. We were quite enthralled with the Reagan library and delighted that we could go on board Air Force One and see where the president sat while making many trips overseas.

Preston at the Reagan Library in front of Air Force One.

The scenery at the Reagan Library was impressive!

Perry is going over his notes prior to giving his talk on the history of the Apostolic Christian Church.

Lynn and I were at the Reagan library years ago before Uncle Frank or Aunt Alice died--also before President Reagan died. We saw the spot where Air Force One was to be placed soon. Later it was so interesting to recognize the scenery as we watched Reagan's funeral procession wend its way through the countryside to the site.

We spent two evenings with Uncle Frank and Aunt Alice; the latter was in a beginning stage of dementia. Uncle Frank was something else!!

Then we went to San Diego to Point Loma and the next morning had breakfast at the Coronado Hotel. No prices were posted on the menu because if one needed to know prices, he shouldn't have been there. So we decided to go for it and our breakfasts were $18.00 a piece!
We also visited the Institute for Creation Research and met Dr. Henry Morris himself. He was brown bagging his lunch on his 85th birthday and came out of his office to meet us. From his books and DVDs and from meeting him once before, we were again awed by the humility of one so knowledgeable.
He transitioned from evolutionist to theistic evolutionist to young earth creationist during the course of his lifetime.

Looks like a great trip. I've heard San Diego is a wonderful vacation spot. I was at the Nixon library in the early 90s before the Reagan library was open.

Thanks so much! I'm going to the Reagan library in two weeks! (We're going to California for a conference and the library is just 30 miles away.) Will post pictures afterward -
