Some friends found this as they cleaned out their basement and gave it to me. I LOVE it. It is a real treasure to me. Our home seems to be maintaining a consistent 71 degrees!

Aunt Ada! And what a treasure! I know you value that. Wonder how many more are still around.
A great momento! I have about 10 E.J. Klopfenstein Grain pencils, 2 ball point pens, and 3 pencils that also have a 12 inch string and a ring at the end to "Play"..to try to swing the pencil & catch the ring onto the pencil. If anybody wants one, I'll send one to you.....likewise a regular pencil.
I remember sneaking up into the attic in the Gridley house to play with pencils with the string and ring. However, we were under strict orders NOT to remove them from the attic or to play with the stuff in "those boxes" because they were not our property. Rather, they belonged to Grandpa and Grandma. I am pretty sure I never removed one from the attic and I was always paranoid I'd get caught playing in the box as well. EDK
