Unfortunate Situation

My boy is somewhere in eastern North Carolina, sick with the stomach flu, and the rest of his drama team had to go on without him tonight, as they had a presentation they couldn't miss. He is at the home of the family that hosted him last night, and they are taking good care of him. I think it's something that they will take in a stranger and care for him like one of their own, and as a mother I deeply appreciate it. Mike's brother is a doctor and he has called to check on him.

The team is only about a half hour away from where he is, so tomorrow they will come back to get him and they will continue on with their schedule. I hope he's better by then, and would appreciate your prayers for him.

Being intrigued by theatre and all the talent that goes with it, how does the team get along without him in their performance? Do they have fill-in people who know the parts or do they "wing-it"?

They don't have fill-in people - they know each other's parts very well so somehow they wing it! I think they have a contingency plan in place ahead of time, for each person. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often.

He just called me - said he's really weak but is doing better this morning. Poor guy - bad enough to have it at home, much less at the home of someone you don't even know!

Preston had an away-from-home flu experience over Christmas break. He missed out on a extended week-end trip that included the Creation Museum in Tennessee and some other interesting stops. One of the young men he was with drove him home first thing in the morning from Indiana and then drove back to join the group. Sad to say, because he was so eager to get back to the others as quickly as possible (and be in the car with sick Preston as short a time as possible) he ended up getting a ticket for speeding. The flu is certainly NO FUN! I hope Andrew bounces back quickly!

I am so sorry that Preston had to go through that. It's a shame to have missed that trip to the museum also.

Andrew just called - he's some better but he has ridden on to the next destination with the team, but not performing tonight - they have put him in a hotel so he can sleep it off. At least he's doing better.
