Here's a photo from my boxes, which I have been going through the past few days. Lots of interesting things I'm finding. Grandma and Grandpa with their hats, and look, NO TIE! Where do you think they are sitting to watch the parade, and do you recognize the two little boys? Also the chairs?

I think Mother would be right in style today with her sandals and little bolero jacket. Not sure about the hat, though. Those two little boys are sooooo cute. I could answer your questions, but will let others do that.
I thought immediately that the one on Grandpa Klopfenstein's lap is Stan. I don't know about the one with Grandma. Is that right?
Aunt Catherine - I'd love to see more of the interesting things you've been finding in your boxes.
I, too, know who they are, but I'll let some of you keep guessing.
By the way, notice the lady on the upper left appears to be on a cell phone. Hmmmmmm.

Hmmm, Cathy. FYI there were no cell phones then, so she was probably cleaning the wax out of her ear.
Great picture. My guess is that the pic was taken just North of the Klopfenstein Grain office while waiting for the Centennial Parade. Those chairs are legendary, too, from inside the grain office. They were the center of a great gathering place where many old duffers would discuss the world's events while I would listen, sitting on the round stool with the revolving seat.
Someone feel free to give an answer for those of us that would make a guess only by cousins who would be about that age in July of 1956--and it would be a guess.
The little boy with Mother is Bruce. I am thinking that maybe the lady on the left is Aunt Ruth Gramm. Ruth K. was the one in charge of the little float that was in the parade.
I have a vague memory of the high wooden stool. Does anyone know where it ended up? It seems to me, it had a creack down the middle. Funny the things you remember. Sure is a classic picture.

It seems I've seen it there. Herb Stoller of Peoria has one of the original high-back wooden chairs, I think. I don't know how he got it.
The boys are Stan (left), Bruce (right).
Yes, we have the stool in our kitchen. It is currently being used as a plant stand. It is old and cracked, but we like it.
