Larry the Lobster

All this talk about Flat Stanely has reminded me of Larry the Lobster. In 2004, while on a business trip to South Africa for 10 days to investigate the purchase of leather seating components from that country, one of the ladies from Auburn Hills MI brought along "Larry the Lobster". Larry was a school project for her 4th grade neighbor. Larry was to be handed off from person to person and then the person who had Larry was supposed to photograph Larry in his environment, email the picture detailing the photo and the location back to the teacher and then hand Larry off to someone else for his next adventure. Below are some of the pictures we took of Larry.

Larry left South Africa with Thomas on an airplane bound for Germany. This week I've wondered where Larry ended up, if he traveled more than the other lobsters in the class and just how surprised the teacher or students were with his travels. Thanks for listening (or should I say reading)!! EDK

Interesting. Larry certainly had a much broader experience than Stanley! Makes me think we should've done more.

I'd forgotten you went to South Africa, but I probably knew it at the time. That had to be exciting, but difficult to be so far away from your family for so long. You could pick a couple of your experiences from there to tell us about.

So glad somebody finally blogged because Flat Stanley was getting pretty flat. Thanks, EDK.

Don't know if I mentioned it before or not, but we had Flat Stanley at our house last year. We mailed him to Sam's aunt and uncle in Arizona. He came back with some nice pictures and postcards from the Grand Canyon, the desert, and a beautiful golf course. He was one of the farthest travelers in his class, but still no where near South Africa!

How is the auto industry doing in Alabama by now? Are you calling any of your workers back yet?

What a fun and neat project! Larry looks so striking in his bright red, I think I like him even better than flat Stanley. They had the flat Stanley project at Prairie School when Preston was there and it was great. Thanks for posting the pictures, Eric.
