Yesterday we got about 5" of snow. Grand Rapids now has had 104.5" of snow for the year. Another few inches--which shouldn't be a problem getting this week--will make it the second snowiest on record. Last year with 107" was the second snowiest ever in Grand Rapids. However, GR is about 20 miles inland. Holland and Muskegon right on the lake have received 20-30 more inches than Grand Rapids. I live about halfway between Holland and Grand Rapids so I figure my town has received about 115" of snow so far this year.
How much snow have you received? Of course, there will be quite a few O's I'm sure.

We've received just a few flakes a couple of times this winter. Nothing that would even stick to the ground.
My former boss, who now has responsibilty for our plant (my current bosses new boss) was down last week in Alabama. He currently lives in Holland MI. His parting advice to us on Friday afternoon was: "never, under any circumstances, never ever move to Michigan. The weather is horrible!!".
You have further validated that for me. EDK
Not the first flake. Which really is unusual - we usually see a little of the white stuff. About every 3-4 years we get a nice dusting to a couple of inches. About every 10 years we get a really big snow - 6 inches. But it does not appear that this is the year.
Eric,
The thing about living here is that for the most part they really know how to handle snow. So it may be snowing all day, but the roads will be pretty good driving home from work. Once it stops snowing the roads get cleared pretty quickly because they usually are plowing the whole time and trying to keep up.
The snow a true southerner sees always amuses us. They see snow when we can't see a single flake.
So when we hear "It's snowing outside", we chuckle. Kids go wild in school if someone thinks he sees a flake. For the kids' sake it would be nice to have enough snow to build a snowman--or at least see tracks in the snow. It has snowed in the past but now a snow drought seems to parallel a rain drought.
I can't wait to live where the snow is only visible to "true Southerners," and where they have absolutely no idea what to do with a light dusting of snow. I could care less if Nathan ever builds a snow man, or if I never see tracks in the snow again!
It's not the snow or the handling of the snow. I actually love driving in snow. Its the STINKING COLD that gets me!
