Another MotherKism

Mim can claim the honors of coining the word for the title.

Well, as I was lying awake last night and reflecting on a host of past incidents, the remembrance of Mother referring to someone who was madly in love (or thought so) as being "dippy". She used "dippy" frequently and we thought we knew what she meant. I remember her warnings not to get too dippy along the way!!!

Reckon what all she meant by saying "dippy"?

She always sort of giggled when she called someone "dippy". I think she remembered being "dippy" about our dad and could identify with the young women.
Saturday, Jerry and I went for a drive around Gridley to look at the beautiful white trees. I was driving and he told me to watch out for another car coming and I said don't worry, he's just gawking also. He said "GAWKING!, that's another Klop word" and insisted nobody else would say that!

Gawking? I thought that was a general word for public use. How about "what in the world!" People make fun of me at work for saying that. Isn't that a well-known phrase?

I also remember how she'd "giggle" when she said "dippy" and she'd kind of shiver also. I've heard "gawk" and "what in the world" outside of the K. family.
