Old pic from the Homestead

It's time for another old picture -- this one from March of 1957. Can you guess the occasion, with Aunt Alice holding a fancy hat and with Uncle Perry wearing a corsage (or, on a man would it be called a boutonniere?)? Notice the admiring, loving glance that Grandma K is giving her husband. It's always good to see pictures of them because we need to remember that without them NONE of us would even be a thought in anyone's brain. Remember that you can enlarge pictures by clicking on them.

The time is 6:03--Thursday morning. The first remembrance of March, 1957, is my wedding, now over 51 years ago, with Mim. The Lord has been good to us and we are thankful.

Now if the pic represents another story, it is too early in the morning to think what it might be!

The occasion was indeed the early morning of UL and AM's wedding day. The pic was taken by my mother and then developed on April 7, 1957 so I'm thinking my folks and these folks pehaps drove to Princeville together that day. Aunt Alice was still single for 2 more years.

Where exactly are they standing?

I noticed Grandma had that same look on the Tuesday August 12 post picture. She must have loved that man.

I'm 99% sure they are standing in the dining room of the Homestead, with the living room entrance behind them. The wallpaper looks very familiar and they usually did have a calendar on the wall behind Uncle Perry (later "the plaque").
It must have been early in the day, prior to the drive to Princeville for the wedding. Grandpa looks a little tired yet.

Exactly right! Dining room of the homestead. The wide doorway gives entry to the living room. And the wall plaque behind Uncle Perry. But note, too, the ceiling light fixture in the living room!
