My note says it's Stan with Grandma and Grandpa. Is that right?
That's right. They are sitting beside the "office" at the Gridley Centennial parade in 1956. Cleve, I believe you pulled Stan and Bruce in our decorated wagon at the parade, right? Wasn't my mom a sporty little thing?
Yes, it's little Stan on their lap. Yes, Aunt Ruth decorated and dolled up the wagon in a "Sailor" decor and had us all wear white sailor outfits. I pulled the wagon in the parade. Those chairs G & G are sitting in were big, heavy, classics. Herb Stoller somehow got one and, I believe, still has it. I think Uncle Perry got the popular rotating, round wooden stool. There were many Leo Blessman's, Egbert Hudson's, Uncle Joe's, Albert Grusy's that were daily hanger-on'ers at the grain elevator. Do you know of any others? Thanks, Ang, for the picture!!! Cleve

The pic is at the Gridley Centennial Parade in 1956. Grandpa and Grandma are sitting in chairs just north of the grain office uptown. It was a hug parade with an unbelievable crowd in Gridley. Cars were parked on each side of the street on all streets and extending both east and west on Route 24. I kid you not, but the crowd was estimated over 30,000. After the parade was over the crowd at 3rd and Center Street was packed shoulder to shoulder. The attendance figure seems absurd, but it was a huge crowd in town, and parades back then were still a big thing and Centennial celebrations were new and well attended. Dr. Leonard Rich will confirm this figure.
