Weather in W. Michigan

I don’t know what your weather is like, but the last hour has been very strange in W. Michigan. The sky has gotten progressively darker, and now at 4:30 it is literally dark outside. The storms are rolling in, all the street lights are on, and we cannot see across the highway. We are ready to be pounded with a major storm and it’s quite eery. The paradox is that on a typical day it isn’t this dark here now until at least 10:00 p.m!

Ann, I’d love to send this your way!

By now the storm should have passed. We're waiting to hear about it . . .

The storms were really bad for about an hour or so just before I left work. There was a break until about 8:45 and then I think another batch of storms came through during the night. Storms rarely wake me up so I'm never sure if it has rained or stormed at night.

Downtown GR got almost 5" of rain and had 60+ mph wind gusts. Lots of people are without power, lots of limbs down, and lots of roads are flooded.

However, I kept power and thankfully work has power because a 4-day weekend would have been really tough to handle!!!

Glad you're ok. Seems like there's been crazy weather all over the country and we never know when the "extreme" will hit us. We've had rain and storms predicted all week here, but it's been nice and sunny everyday. So much for the forecasts!

Happy $th of July to everybody.

We had something strange here in Huntsville/Madison on Sunday. There was a huge air show - the Blue Angels, with about 70,000 people attending over the Sat-Sun show.

Sunday afternoon there was a storm that contained some sort of mini-cell (I forget the exact terminology - oh, just remembered, it's called a micro-burst), and sudden wind gusts toppled a generator that fell on a 5-year old boy and it killed him. Several others were injured. It was bizarre - we live about 5 miles north of the airport and we had sunshine the whole time!

To add to the tragedy of the microburst and the freak accident of the generator falling on the little five year old, he was an only child and his mother is unable to have more children.
