HOLLYHOCK DOLLS

Some of you may remember making "hollyhock dolls" as children. We have a couple stalks of hollyhocks in our yard, so this morning Grace and I made a couple dolls from them. Yesterday was a very busy day and we didn't have time to take pictures, but here is one picture of this morning's creations.

We just got back from Joliet where we met Drake and Michelle and had lunch. Now we're heading for the couch(s)! It was a good, fun-filled weekend.

Never heard of a hollyhock doll, but sometimes think about the hankie dolls our moms made for us in church. I would like to know how to make those! We used to do a mouse, 2 babes in a cradle, and I think more I can't remember. Also remember the old funeral home fans we used in church on hot days.

Grace is a cutie! I'm sure you made lots of lasting memories this weekend - even though you must be worn out!

I've never heard of a hollyhock doll either, but they look pretty. I remember the hankie dolls, though--the two babes in a cradle. Also the funeral home fans, and playing with scottie-dog magnets in church.

I just remember one Wednesday night in the old Gridley church sitting in the back row. It must've been 90+ degrees. I was probably 4, and everytime I got off the seat to move beside someone else my hot, sweaty legs would scrape on the pew and make a noise. I remember Mother giving me a look like "Sit still!"
