HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Today is a gorgeous, sunny, clear day in Gridley. Jerry has the yard all spruced up and is washing the car at this moment, I have the laundry done and house cleaned, and we will be heading to Vernon Hills this afternoon to spend some time with Drake and Michelle and their children with two purposes in mind: celebrating Father's Day and watching Grace play softball this evening. We are looking forward to this family time.

We want to wish ALL the father's in our extended family a Happy Father's Day.

As I watched some of NBC's Today Show with all the flooding, fires, and the sudden death of a famous newsman, I realized how fortunate we are and how thankful we should be for our family, our health, and all our blessings. Love you all.

We're also looking forward to a fun time in Indiana next weekend and hope to see some of you there.

Hot and humid here in mid-Alabama. Adrian had 5 girls over for a 14-year birthday party last night. 3 spent the night. Normally Saturday is my sleep catch up day after working 70~80 hours during the week. Today I was awoken at 7:00am to 5 girls (our 2 plus 3 friends) splashing, giggling and screaming in the pool. They swam from 7:00 this morning until 11:30 when they came in for lunch (they swam until 10:30 last night). Planning on the remainer of the weekend being just as laid back. Happy Father's Day to all. EDK

Ada,
Nice posting and thanks for the nice Father's Day wish and reflection on our many blessings.
Our Peoria church sent a busload of volunteers to Oakville, Iowa at 6 a.m. this morning to sandbag the Miss. River...they are hoping for 1,000 volunteer workers there today. The Peoria area has had perfect rains and weather for crops, etc. Now our kids and grandchildren arrive here for the weekend...great times!
Good luck to Grace in her game tonight.

xowrviwiSounds like many of you are having a good Father's Day tomorrow. We celebrated yesterday evening with steaks at Mary and Joey's. Haley and Jaimie were there and we had a great time with them. I am so thankful to say that we are really becoming family, even though it took a while for the girls. To lose a mother at the age Joey's girls were then would be very traumatic.
We look forward to seeing many of you in Indiana next weekend. Lynn is doing quite well to keep a lid on his excitement level. Right now 203 have registered from 23 states! A 96 year old is coming from Florida and as offered on the registration form, she will speak for five minutes. Heard today about a couple from the state of Washington that left for Indiana on yesterday (they ought to get their on time!).

Not such a great Father's Day here. We packed everyone up and went boating. After a few hours, it started getting really windy. The older two girls had to get to work. Jerry was mad that he didn't get up on the knee board. It all turned out into one fiasco, and we are home now. Rain, lightening, thunder. Our siding blew off again. Ugh. Glad to be home due to the weather, but could've been a better day. As the mom, I'm put in the middle of it all. Just wish it was Monday morning and I could go to work. Now I'm just the one to blame for the weather being bad, for not knowing how to drive the boat with a knee boarder, for the girls "wasting" gas to drive to the lake, for the siding coming off the house, for all the snaks being in the boat now that we are in the house, etc....

An update: Grace's game was called off because of weather. It was beautiful all day but storms rolled in right before the planned start time. We're all bummed because it was her only chance this year to play under the lights in the big stadium. We had a nice time with Mom & Dad. Michelle made blueberry pancakes and homemade sausage. Later in the day we went miniature golfing and had ice cream. Then we had dinner with our neighbors on the patio. A happy ending to a great father's day!

:arry , Lauren and Erin came over on Sat night and we went to Ruby Tuesday for supper. (Barb and Bonnie had to work). We had a nice visit for Father's Day.

Yesterday (Sunday) we had a terrible thunderstorm. The wind was very strong and blew trees and tree limbs down all over town.
The electricity also went out at 3:30 and was off until 9:30 pm. We drove around town afterward and it looked like a war zone.
We couldn't complain as it was nothing compared to what the folks are experiencing from floods. Keith is out now raking our whole yard that is full of sticks and small branches. What a mess. Praise God our town was spared a tornado.
