Many of you have met or known my father-in-law Earl Steffen over the years. Tragically, he was killed in a traffic accident yesterday afternoon in Colorado. Please pray for his wife Betty, Sam, and the rest of the family as we go through this difficult time.

Shelley,
Thanks for sharing. I'll be praying for your family. I first met your in-laws and husband at the Athens church when Sam was probably 2 or 3 years old.
When I needed a birth certificate to get into the Dominican Republic for the summer Earl got it for me from the Bloomington city hall and overnighted it to me in AL. I'm not sure how he got involved, but I think Dad and Mom had just eaten breakfast with them or something.
So sorry to hear of this tragedy. We will certainly keep you in our prayers. We have always thought a lot of both Sam's parents and enjoyed any times we were together.
Thanks for letting us know. We will be praying for your family.I didn't know him personally but have seen him in Bloomington church many times. He always seemed so jolly.
Mother often talked about going to Alabama with them when Sam and siblings were small children. She had such a good time.
Very sorry to hear of your tragic loss. Kathleen grew up with Earl and was in his class throughout her Fairbury years. He was a very unique and hard-working evangelist and was a friend of everyone he met. Our prayers will certainly be with you all.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I often heard Mom and Dad talk of your folks and their visits to Alabama; and at Uncle Ralph's visitation I met them once again, probably the first time in who knows how many years, and noticed once again how friendly and interested in people that both of them were. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
