Nothing too small?

Since nothing is off-limits to post - I will tell you this. Our house stinks. For 2 days. It smells like Seven fertilizer, especially in the hallway and the kitchen. We have been diligently looking for something spilled, something exploded, anything it could be, but we just now gave up again and are taking a rest. I leave in a couple of days for a week at Disney with Amber, and I just hate leaving Dave with the mystery of what in the world can be making the house smell. Last time I left it was ants in the house. Seems there's always something!

Judy,
Talking about smells--don't ever spill a gallon of milk in the floor of the back car seat. Several months ago a gallon fell off the back seat of our Ford, the plastic jug broke, and by the time we got home several minutes later there was a pool of milk inundating the carpet.
Now a $150 later the car still smells when the windows are closed.
Maybe we need to get a different car! Or maybe somebody has some good advice. Mim

Well, this is what I found on the internet for getting out milk smells. Now you may have tried all this. If not, it may all work, or you may find that the baking soda, vinegar, and enzyme remover smells are worse than the milk smells! Good luck!

Pour baking soda over the area where the milk was spilled.
Sprinkle cold water on top of the baking soda.
Let stand overnight.
Vacuum to remove baking soda.
If the smell remains, try treating the area with white vinegar. Let sit for 15 minutes, then blot excess vinegar with paper towels.
If vinegar fails to beat the stink, tackle it with an enzyme odor remover. These products use biological organisms that consume odors and can be found at stores that specialize in cleaning products.
Allow the area to dry completely: residual moisture can cause mildew. Use a hair dryer or fan if necessary, being careful not to scorch carpet fibers with a hair dryer.

A few months back I told Jason I smelled something in the laundry room. He didn't take me seriously until I had him sniff around...and it ended up to be a mouse in the dryer vent! It had crawled up the exterior of the house and had fallen in the vent. We moved the dryer and found him in the exhaust vent. Just a (gross) suggestion that we have from experience. Hope it ends up to be something much less unpleasant than that...
