FLOWERS
Just a few more flowers. I love watching them grow and bloom and now that the wind, rain, and clouds and the sun is shining, they are making good progress. The peony bush on the side of the house is one of several was moved from Jerry's dad's garden in Chenoa to our home in Minonk and Jerry moved them on to Gridley. We've had them on the north side and they've just never been very pretty. So he moved them to the west side last fall and they are growing pretty good for the first year. This one is doing the best and we're hoping that by next spring they will all be in full bloom. Jerry thinks they are probably 75-80 years old. The other bush is also from the Chenoa house.

Nice pretty flowers. Peony bushes are fascinating because they can live nearly forever. The cemetery at Goodfield that Dad restored (with our ancestors gravesites)has living peonies at the foot of almost all the graves - a custom because of peonies' longevity. A botanist from ISU visited the cemetery once and confirmed that they were over 150 years old. Your's might be at your home for another 70-80 years!
That's interesting about peonies. We have several bushes that Grandma (Anna)K had. I wonder how old they are. We also have a rose bush that Anna got from her mother in law,Sophia, who lived across the street. It is really blooming right now. I wonder how old it is. The roses seem to be the best ever this year. Ada and Jerry's flowers look wonderful. ----Carol

The peony info is interesting. I had no idea they lived so long. When I have a plant that isn't doing so well I just say it's lived its life span and get rid of it.
Your flowers are beautiful. You and Jerry are so ambitious!!
