Anderson's home!

Big brother, Carter, age 9, is delighted to have a new brother.  Ellie, age 6, Caleb, age 12, and Ashton, age 13, are also very happy.

Thankfully Charity's blood pressure was normal today after not having any meds for 48 hrs.  She had what is called HELLP syndrome and her high blood pressure was a concern the last two weeks.  The latest blood work showed that her liver enzymes were improved but not yet normal.  She is still very tired and needs lots of rest, but things are looking good!

Glenn, Ellie and I went to St. Francis to bring Anderson home in a special car bed for preemies.  He was born 2 weeks ago today, weighing 3 lbs 6 oz. Today he weighed 3 lbs 13 oz.  ---Carol

Glad to hear it, both that baby is home and mom is improving. Had Charity had problems with preeclampsia in other pregnancies? It's rare for HELLP to strike for the first time in later pregnancies, but it does happen. I think I should have been diagnosed with it when Ethne was born. It's scary.

What a beautiful picture of Carter and Anderson. They definitely look like brothers! We're so glad that he's home, doing well, and gaining weight. I'm sure he'll get plenty of "tender, loving care" from his big brothers and sister. We're praying also that Charity will feel a little better/stronger each day.

`The beaming smile on Carter's face is absolutely priceless. Two new boy babies in the K clan: Congrats to the Schielers and to the extended Stevigs--sorry but i don't know Thomas and Erin's last name.

Jen, the Peoria doctor said the same thing---that it is unusual for Charity to get it since she didn't have it previously. He thought she had had it for 3 weeks and didn't know it. Yes, I had some scary moments---especially when the Bloomington hospital doctor gave such a dire diagnosis (after looking at the results of her blood work) and insisted on a helicopter ride to get her to St. Francis as soon as possible. She told Charity, "You could end up in intensive care and you could die." The doctors in Peoria didn't seem so "rattled" by her condition. They seemed confident they could help her and she would be okay. ---Carol
