He who is ahead is never behind--Harry Hill quote!
The local newspaper, "The Decatur Daily", Decatur, AL, reported the obituary of a lady 64 years of age. Included in the details was the list of eight pallbearers--ALL WOMEN!
Question: Is Alabama ahead or behind of the times?
Well. . .I'd like to see those eight women carry that casket! If this is strictly what you're talking about, I'd say maybe ahead of the times (if that's progress) - but if you're talking in generalities. . .that's another story.
It would depend on whether I look out my front door or the back door on my answer Uncle Lynn. Sometimes we would be ahead, sometimes behind. Just up the road from us, a elderly man cleared away trees to expose a long abandoned trailer. Over two days he put up tarps on the roof and piled all the junk into piles in front of the trailer. He has moved into it, I presume due to a lack of funding to live anywhere else more inhabitable. It's still hard to imagine someone getting to the point to moving into this trailer that we barely even knew existed three weeks ago. EDK
I don't think it is generalities. The account is in today's Decatur Daily obituary section; DD is usually pretty reliable except for it's leftist news and editorials.
Eight pallbearers? All women? My guess is that she was single all her life. I heard of one single gal's obituary which read "Men didn't take me out when I was alive, so I'm not gonna let them take me out when I'm dead".

That's a new one for me! I'm singing the little old ditty, "Anything you can do, I can do better..."

She was preceded in death by her husband which rules out the "single" theory.
